Initial Basic Training
I run motorcycle IBT at Kinnegad Plaza and Tullamore for categories A1, A2 and A. The bike, helmet and riding gear are included, and I have a bike for every category I teach.
IBT course completion is separate from the RSA practical motorcycle driving test.
Transport is free from the Red Cow Luas stop, Naas town or Sallins town. From anywhere else, message me on WhatsApp and I’ll arrange it.

Getting a driving licence for a car or motorbike in Ireland follows a set order, and missing a step can cost you weeks. Pick car or motorbike below, then tap any step to see what to do and how I can help.
You book it through the official theory test service and sit it at a test centre. It covers the Rules of the Road, risk perception, eco-driving, hazard awareness and safe driving. You need to pass it before you can apply for a learner permit.
Book your theory testYour learner permit lets you drive on public roads, but not motorways, and only with a supervising driver who has held a full licence for the same category for more than two years. Display L-plates whenever you drive.
Apply on ndls.ieEDT is 12 one-hour lessons with an RSA Approved Driving Instructor (6 if you qualify for reduced EDT). I’m an approved instructor, I teach EDT in a manual dual-control car and I book it as two-hour sessions at €45 an hour. I sign each lesson into your logbook.
EDT lessons with meUse this time well. Practise with your supervising driver between lessons, on different roads and at different times of day. You also need to finish all your EDT lessons before you can book the test.
What your first lesson is likeI prepare learners for the Tallaght and Dún Laoghaire test centres. Pre-test lessons cover the roads, junctions and manoeuvres around the centre you pick. If you don’t have a suitable car, you can sit the test in mine.
Pre-test lessons Test car hireThe examiner checks your knowledge of the Rules of the Road and whether you can drive safely on your own. Pass and you get a certificate of competency, which is valid for up to two years.
Tallaght and Dún Laoghaire test centresApply for your full licence online or at an NDLS centre within two years of passing. Your full licence lets you drive on all public roads, including motorways. For your first two years you display N-plates.
Start with a lessonIt covers the Rules of the Road, risk perception, eco-driving, hazard awareness and safe riding. Your pass is valid for up to two years, and you need it to get a motorcycle learner permit.
Book your theory testA car licence doesn’t cover motorbikes, so you need a motorcycle learner permit from the NDLS. You can’t ride on the road until you’ve completed IBT. Learners can’t use motorways or carry a passenger, and you wear L-plates on a yellow high-vis tabard.
Which category do I need?Initial Basic Training is compulsory for first-time learners and must be done with an approved IBT instructor. I run it at Kinnegad Plaza or Tullamore for €650 with the bike and gear included, and I bring Dublin riders there free from the Red Cow Luas stop.
IBT for Dublin ridersAfter IBT you can ride on your learner permit and build up real road experience. Pre-test lessons are where we sharpen what the examiner looks for. I teach them anywhere in Dublin, North or South, at €45 an hour on your bike or €90 for two hours on mine.
Motorcycle pre-test lessonsThe test combines questions about your bike with an assessment of your safety gear, riding skills and awareness. Pass and you get a certificate of competency, valid for up to two years. My test-day package is €200.
Motorcycle test in DublinApply for your full motorcycle licence within two years of passing. It lets you ride on all public roads, including motorways. As a novice rider you display N-plates on a yellow high-vis tabard.
Book your IBTOnce you’ve held a full A2 licence for more than two years, the RSA lets you move up to category A with 11 hours of progression training with an approved IBT instructor, instead of a full test. I teach it for €300 on your bike or €350 on mine.

Car lessons are €45 an hour, booked as two-hour sessions (€90). Test car hire is €120, or €150 with a one-hour warm-up lesson. Motorcycle IBT is €650 for the full weekend, motorcycle pre-test lessons are €45 an hour, and my motorcycle test-day package is €200.
